Crank Bearing update

I saw on here sometime last year that you could replace the crappy crank bearing without splitting the cases. Go though the clutch side or something. Im thinking about buying a low hours 04 motor and it doesnt have the update. Runs great, so I just to fix the crank before it goes out......Anyone have the info on doing this?

i dont think thats true, there is a shoulder that the bearings sit against, and can only come out one way, and if you do the update, it includes the crank, and bearings all in one kit. so the case needs to be split anyhow.
