Question z400 stuck in reverse rev limiter?

i posted a few days ago about my quad going slow it ran fine but when i gave it gas, it would almost miss. i tore the carb apart, like someone said and changed the plug, and its still doing it. my buddy was looking at it yesterday and said that it sounded like the motor was hitting the rev limiter in reverse, but when i was really in foward gears. i can go through all the gears but get the same problem at a certain rpm. anyone know what the heck i am talking about? and know how to help? thanks in advance. this sucks. haha

Sounds like your cdi box might be heading south for the winter.

i tried taking the lid off, and then even the filter out for a min to see if it was the jetting. it still did it. it used to run great until all of a sudden it started doing that.

Does it miss at all RPM's or in just a certain area? When it misses does it backfire?

when it gets to a certain rpm, like1/4 to 1/2 throttle, it starts doing whatever it is doing. it does in a way sound like it is bouncing off the limiter, but it also sorta sounds like it is missing. i know, i'm not too good of help. i haven't heard it hit the limiter in rev for a while. and no, it doesn't backfire at all.
