    headers or chip

Alright to start out I have a 1997 c1500 that I am looking to get more gas mileage and power out of. I have a cold air intake and cats cut off and open muffler. Which would be the smarter route? headers or a superchip?

neither....for the price of either you might see a 1 to 2mpg boost in economy.

The first thing you should do is throw the cats back on. That is an OBDII vehicle and should have an O2 sensor in front of the cat, and one behind, without the cat, the O2 will get different readings, and throw the computer off and throw some codes also. Is your service engine soon light on?? I am pretty sure though, that you can buy dummy sensors that trick the computer into "thinking" everything is alright. You might want to research those a little bit. Other than that, I would do headers.

EDIT: Also look into a cutom burnt chip from a company such as wait4me, or black bear, or nelson. You can reasearch up on those too. This is a pretty good website.
