It all depends on what you like. It is best if you can find someone to let you ride one around the yard a little or something to see how you like the feel of the bike. There are a lot of used deals out there right now and if I was wanting an xc bike I would look for a used one in good shape. I like my honda, but have rode a few yammies and wouldn't turn one down for the right deal.

Agreed. You're going to find more used parts for the Honda and Yamaha, than you are the other 450's. Just because they are more popular and been out longer.
Love my Honda, but like said before, if the right deal came along, I wouldn't turn a Yamaha down. Little skeptical of Yamaha's frame and front end though.
