2001 honda rancher issues
I have a 2001 Honda Rancher es that has several issues. Here is the deal. I bought this from a guy that was pretty corrked but i did not find this out until i had got the atv home. First of all i have read about every thread on every forum and checked out all of the suggestions. When i turn the key on the speedometer will show a 0 but will not register when i drive it. The gear position on the screen is blank. The only way it will show up is if i unplug the speed sensor that is located on the front of the drive shaft on the left hand side. The first thing that i did was buy a new speed sensor and it did not work. Also it will shift through all of the gears until you get on it and then it will either stick in 4th or 5th gear and will not up shift or down shift. I have to turn the key off and resrt the bike and then i can do it all over again. Same result. I have checked all of the connections and cleaned them then added dielectric grease and no help. What i really need is the repair manual because i have invested way too much money in this quad and i just want to get rid of it but i want to fix it first. I really hope that someone has the manual to help me out and i will go through athe whole thing and check all of the electrical things with a meter using the manual. I have also checked the angle sensor too. I know these go bad but i was told that if it was bad it would not shift at all. That is what the local shop said and i am not taking it to them to get a big bill. Thank you and please help me asap. This thing has been sitting in my garage for almost a year and it is time for it to go.
