    Oil sending disconnect

I'm transplanting a 70cc eton motor with no oil pump into an 2004 50cc viper with oil sending unit, etc.

For the sake of not having to purchase another pump i would like to disconnect the light and sending unit. The light is simple enough, but i'm looking at the schematic and it shows the sending unit has a wire that goes to the cdi. I'm assuming this is the low oil level shut off so you can't run the machine when it's low.
I'm not sure exactly how the sender works. I'm assuming it only sends a signal if it senses lack of oil , so if i just clip and remove the unit it won't send a shut off signal.

Is this correct or is there another procedure ?

Mine works fine with the tank removed and all I did was just disconnect the sensor wire at the oil tank connection.
