    help kick pinion gear

    can someone us help fix a big problem every second race i need a kick pinion gear. it eats the teeth offf then it will not kick over. thanks jason "home of the holeshot queen #595"she will get you!!!!

    Sounds like the variator is either too close or the gear is not sliding back to the start position. You can lube it a little. Lock tight the variator nut. I use blue lock tight on everything. Are you using a belt housing cover gasket? Couple thousands may make a difference.

    This is a common problem.
    The variator is not seated correctly.
    When you start the quad it is just missing the gear.
    and when you put power to the motor...the variator
    shifts a little and make the two rub. If you feel the kick starter.
    It will be very warm where shaft goes through the cover.
    You might have put the washer on the wrong side of the
    variator.
