Remove 1986-87 250r Front Wheel Hubs From Spindles Replace Brake Disc

I thought Id share my Mickey Mouse way of seperating the front hubs from the spindles on a 1986-87 Honda 250R. It took me a while to figure it out, so why should anyone have to re-invent the wheel!

Here are the tools I used to remove the wheel hubs:

Note: These tools can be replaced with anything similar in shape or material, or even proper tools!

    A. piece of steel I removed from a car jack stand
    B. ratchet extension
    C. mallet
    D. 250R front tire
    F. A Long steel rod (I normally use instead of a screwdriver for removing bearings from the axle carrier)

    Step One:
Place the Hub face down so that the spindle balances on the piece of steel. The purpose of the piece of steel is creating a space between the ground and the Hub.
Use the front tire to balance the A-Arms.

    Step Two:
Turn the spindle until one of the Disc bolts is exposed.

    Step Three:
Place the long steel rod on the disc bolt. The purpose of placing it here is to avoid damaging the disc. This will also make it easier to remove the disc bolts if they are being replaced. This will cause any thread lock to loosen.

    Step Four:
Its hammer time!! Use a criss cross pattern. This will take several hits if your hubs have never been removed.

    Step Five:
Now that the hubs have become loosened from the spindles, they have probably made contact with the ground. Now, hit the spindle with the hammer until it is flush with the hub. Well, you really can’t hit it any deeper into the hub with the hammer alone.

    Step Six:
Get the ratchet extension and place it on top of the spindle end and hammer it through. I placed the assembly on my lap which caused some bruising. Hey! No pain, no gain!

    Step Seven:
Take that cheesy smile off your face!

Use a little anti-seize when you put them back together and you'll never have to go through that again.
