    what is a remotew reservoir?

    and what are the advantages of it over not having it?

    it is a "can" on the shocks that are not directly mounted to the shock..those are called piggy back resivoirs.

    the advantages are that they can hold a little more "fluid", which increases the time before you feel the shocks fade, and some say they also keep the shock "fluid" cooler.
    the disadvantages are that they need to be mounted some place and a hole ran to the shocks. this hose can be vulnerable to breakage
