Question make my 450r faster than a suzuki 450

I am new at this site and i have an 07 trx 450er with a trinity full ext., a k&n air filter, a plenum, procom cdi box, jet kit, and a hotter plug. my buddy has a suzuki 450 with a full yoshi, a programmer , 1 tooth lower front sprocket, and a cherry bomb. most of the time, if i dont stand it up i get hem all the way to 5th then he comes back and gets me by about 1 length. what can i do to get him all the time start to finish? i thought about a stage 2 cam and port the head. i just dont want to lose any reliability.

You are going to need a cam for sure....the cam is the weak link on a 450R....HC2,HRC are good choices.

try dropping your front sprocket 1 tooth as well. with what you have now the only reason he is beating you is cause he gets to top speed faster than you.

thanks for the help so if i do the stage 2 hc i need to port the head to right and do you pollish the head like you would a car because the man that does my motor work said he would do both for $150. and comin up to winston sounds good. and thats one nice bike. we should that.

You do not have to port/polish the head in order to run a cam. It will make a lot more power, but just adding a cam will be a big difference in itself.
