The park and, but can't fight the EPA. The people from the EPA don't care about how much money that the locals will loose. the only way that this will stay open is for us to write the local Federal elected people in MO. You can write them by email if you are to cheap to spend 41 per letter. You have to remember that numbers is what count. when you write keep it simple and watch the language. Here is a sample letter that you can use.

    The Honorable_________________________

I am hereby opposing any closure of the Off Road Riding Area at St Joe State Park in Park Hills Missouri.
I am opposing this closure due to recommendations by the EPA (environmental protection agency) to eliminate off road vehicle recreation in the Sand Flats(tailings area) for unfounded reasons and without substantial proof that the off road vehicle riding activity that is being allowed including the operation of ATV’s (all terrain vehicles), motorcycles, dune buggies and trucks are putting riders and operators at risk of exposure to lead contamination.
The economic impact from such a closure of the tailings area to riding activity would have a far reaching effect on the local communities, the region, the state including tourism and to the users themselves, their families and friends.
In closing, I oppose any closure of the Off Road Riding Area at St Joe State Park in Park Hills Missouri
    Thanking you, I am

Talk about a bunch of bull.

I read that in the paper

My dads been going there since it was given to the state in 1976, I've been going down there when I was still in my mom before I was born and we are fine.

EPA just got bored and was like, old led mine, people having fun, dust, and now they're going open season on our @ss.

They said they want to filter all the sand or wutever the hell, well they don't realize that there is 2,000 acres of that in the riding area and some places 300 feet deep, and that sand is in the whole friggin county.

Its actually not sand its a bi product of wut was left over from the lead they mined.

I've been going to the Bonne Terre Sand Drags, you can see them from 67 right across from Bt. And there was a group there that had petitions wrote up, you had to sign like 6 cuz it had to go to each EPA member or something saving St. Joe state park. They said last weekend they had over 4000 sigs at Desloge, which is like 3 miles from st. joe. They got at least 7,000 easy so I know we're gonna be safe.

I got other things to support against wut I read in that article but thats enough for now.

I have received several letters back from the senators and such. By what they say, Park Hills is not going to close the riding areas. They are just doing some more research. I will post the letters from work next week, when I get time to scan them.
