    case repair info

    ran across three cases that had one of their mounting bosses broke off for the rear motor mount (near the output shaft). figured if anyone else had this happen they might benefit from this repair idea...

    i first machined away 1/2" of the alum material on a milling machine (on a rotary table), then tig welded in a 1/2" piece of 6061T6 aluminum, welded around the outside edge. a reasonable alternative if you've got alot invested in porting...





    the shaded area is the new alum piece. first drill out the hole with the tap drill and use the drill bit it as a pilot when the piece gets welded in to keep the holes centered. then tap the hole once cooled.
