I've seen people do that but I've also seen people have problems with tires popping off the bead.

300 4trax, bigbear 400, grizzly 350, all stock wheels and no problems at all.

never seen a tire pop off the bead under normal riding conditions, well never seen one pop off without wrecking it.
I ran 26x12-12 mudlites on all four corners of my rubicon with wheel spacers up front on my stock wheels. And my front stock wheels werent that wide at all, 5 inches i do believe, and i think the back wheels where 7 inches wide. And the 12inch wide tires ran on them fine. You'll not have any trouble out of your stock wheels.
