345 lbs. seems kinda high for the crap they talked

wow... they sure did talk alot of crap about HOW LIGTH THIS THING IS!!! we saved 5 lbs here and 9 lbs here and 5 lbs here... the thing is only 5 lbs lighter then the other 450's... i kinda like the bike but that really dissapointed me on how much they tried to save weight and it was only 5 lbs difference

I'm not going to say anything. I hope when the mags do the big shootouts that they do a full wet weight comparison and see what the true weights are...

I would like to see the current line of 450's all hit the scales with all the fluids and a full tank of gas.

None of the 450's weigh 350lbs. Go out and weight them all. In STOCK form ready to ride the lightest one weighs in the mid 390's and the heaviest is like 405lbs. Can't recall which ones but have seen them all back to back on same scale.

The difference is that 345lbs might actually be the true weight. No quad I've seen yet has been under 375lbs dry on scales.

When manufacturers do their scales did you know that they don't even weigh the quads? They use a computer to manipulate a number due to the weights of all the components and use that. If you don't believe me then talk to reps about it. "DRY WEIGHT" is a computer's guess. Maybe Can-Am actually weighed their quad.

Manufacturer dry weights are an absolute joke. They need to be done with oil, antifreeze, shock oil and the battery if it is E-start in the bike. Why even give dry weights, who drives their quad with no oil or antifreeze in it anyway?

I say weigh them ready to start with the same amount of gas in each one. Why is that so hard for the manufacturers or magazines to do for the consumer?

they do it to make the machine look more apppealing....

polaris did this with their ute bikes when the measured the ground clearance...they did it at the foot pegs, not the rear axle like the others did...that way they could claim 11 or12 inches of g.c. compared to everyone else 5 or 6...

Yes, that should be a measurement the magazines do, though each bike may need a different amount of oil and the DS does carry 3 gallons of fuel where most others carry around 2.6.

Measure with all fluids and 2 gallons of fuel each to see what ready to race weight really is.
