    All the changes to the swingarm and the carrier are on the sprocket side. If you shifted the 400ex carrier to the right at all then there is a slight alignment issue with the sprockets. You probably can't even tell and it probably won't do any harm. I just know I measured this all out a couple of years ago.

    250r bumper fits, you just have to bend the bottom mounts out about 1/4" and the top ones in 1/4". This can be done with a bench vise or a pipe wrench very easily and it only takes a few minutes to do. I'm running a 250r bumper and so is a friend of myn, simply because they were at a swap meet brand new for $11.

    Cbr600 clutch should fit the 400ex
    450R have lots of interchangeable parts
    XR400 engines are the same as 400ex beside the kickstart and the starter
    Front caliper of a YZ450 are a good improvement dual piston over 1 and they are a bolt-on

    thats what i did to my 400...
    just welded a washer on my subframe to acomodate the 450R mount

    kfx 450r front shocks fit but you have to modify the upper mount by fabricating a wider area to fit the shock in then weld in place. i had to do it on mine
