Ok lt80 how about a little help

Well with the race quad almost dun just waiting on a few last minute parts, and 4 inches of frickin snow out side Kyle and I took the wrenches to the 80. It already has a DG pipe.

Lets do the clutch thing first. OK you don’t buy rollers, springs or nothing right ? You just mod what you have.

1.How many rollers do you remove
2.How many grams do you lighten the shoes to.
3.What size is the rear clutch big nut.
4.Is there any thing else I can do while I’m in the clutches

I guess we’ll go to the jug next.

    Thanks in advance Jack
    Mike

I'd scrap that pre-mix oil pump and start mixing my own gas and oil. (those puppies can cost you a motor)
    That is one clean motor!

We planed on removing the oil pump drive hicky of the end of the crank. And just using the fuel mix we race with VP Red / Klotz R-50 40:1. That quad is new he’s only road it in the yard three times. It’s an 05 bought late in 06. His old 80 got stolen and I promised him we would make this one better than the old one.
He’s been racing and riding quads for five years and has had eight different quads , right now he has a 250 Bayou, KFX 80, and a 90 E-Ton and if you ask him with one’s his favorite he’ll tell you the 80. You know it was kinda sad while we were working on it he’d say about one thing or another remember the old 80.…. daddy and I’d say yea buddy but this one’s going to be better.

    No problemo!
    Yes, we mod what's there.
I remove 2 rollers and cut the rear shoes to 180 grams.
I use a 1 1/16 (I think) on the big nut. It isn't the exact size but it works fine. I haven't had a need to buy the exact size mm socket.
FYI: that nut is left handed thread.
Please remove the oil pump drive from the end of the crank. It's not needed and will cause a problem IMO. It runs the pump with no oil in it.
    40:1 should be fine. I run 32:1.
    Your kid needs Moore power.
I agree, that's one clean motor. I get em in here all yucked up at times.

    Jack,

you have a link to those rear tires you recommend instead of the snowhogs? I can't remember the brand name.

I should say that I do install aftermarket springs in the rear clutch but that's for the serious mods.

Thanks Jack, that's what I thought just wanted to be sure. I'm going to REMOVE the oil pump drive from the end of the crank I said that wrong. Sorry

Now to the jug, sure is a pretty aluminum thing. I'm going to remove the head today and measure it but I'm assuming it's a 50mm bore and a 40mm stroke for a 78.5 cc. ? Can I take it to a 54mm bore to make it a 91.6 cc. ?

We're also going to get it ported and polished by a friend of a friend.

After all this what main and pilot jets do you think I should start with to be in the ball park. And were should the needle be to start

Oh yea THANKS on that left hand thread thing WOW that could have been UGLY

    Thanks again Jack

I have a new Malossi yellow 1500 rpm big spring. We used the little red springs (1500 rpm) from the Malossi kit in the E-Ton.
Is that what you use all 1500 stuff?

I'm not sure of the RPM of the blue or black little springs. I need to make a few phone calls.
