you know I was looking for a part number for the 250X cam and everything I find is that the 300EX and 250X have the same part number. I think the performance difference comes from the timing

from what i hear the 250x has a little "hotter" cam. you would probably be better of buying a web cam or something along that line, they are pretty cheap

Well I think that they are the exact same cam....because the part numbers are exactly the same...so I think this is a myth.....

well, the part numbers do speak for themselves. I was told the 250X cam was a little more aggressive than the 300, and this was the reason for the lower compression despite the longer stroke of the 300EX. This was told to me by the administrator on the Powroll forum. He also told me the pistons were the same, witch is not true, also by looking at the Honda part numbers.(don't get me wrong they are interchangeable)

I don't feel, at least, this particular person was as nice, helpful, and knowledgeable as everyone says Powroll is. He was actually quite rude and sarcastic. This combined with him taking literally about 10 responses before one actually 1/2 way answered my question. Since then, I have gotten better responses from ordinary people on this site. Also, even if there were a difference, the performance aspect would be very minimal. Most increases felt would be simply because the cam is newer and unworn, giving more lift. All aftermarket cams are the same for both models though.
