    Buying ONE soon

Ive had my mind all set on a brand new 2006 yfz 450 for $6300. I rode a buddies 06 predator(lid removed, baffle out, K&N) and i fell in love with it. I think it could of been from pure excitement to finnaly get on a sport quad after i have had my dads polaris sportsmen 500. My question is, shoul i get an 07 predator for $6000 or a 06 450 for $6300? Im not going to race it, alot of trails, power lines, and dirt road riding. I like going fast. I currently also have a 2004 YZ 250. Any major problems with the models? I know the yfz has the oil problem that they fixed with the 2007 model so thats why i thought the predator might be a better choice?

You should check out the Outlaw 525 that is due out any time now. If fast and trails are your thing, it sounds like it may be right up your alley! Yeah it is a little more expensive but may be well worth the $$ since it may not need to be modded to hang with the big boys!

Check out this thread to read a review of it:

You can get a new Pred for a lot less than $6000. The 07 pred did not change anything major from the 06 and an '06 pred can be had for around $5200 at a lot of dealers. That $1100 savings over a YFZ will make for a lot of mods.

But ya if you can wait, need to check out the new 525 Outlaw or wait a little longer and see if the new Preddy 525 comes out in 2007.5.

Ha im a little impatient. Ive been looking to buy one for these for the last 3 months. I narrowed it down to those two quads. Im not sure i like the outlaw, just doesnt look like "my cup of tea" if you know what i mean. Thats true though, i can probably get an 06 for around that. So now the question is the 2006 PREDATOR or the 2006 YFZ 450?

Is there a Outlaw class where he would be #11? Just guessing.

If your not flat out racing I'd go with the Predator or Outlaw as suggested. For me a 06 Pred or a KTM powered Outlaw. Just as it was said above apply the difference in the cost from an 06 to a 07 to the extras/boltons. If your a dune guy or a flat trail rider the 450 is a fine choice.
