    trx250r Airbox

I'm figuring out the air intake on my 300ex with a 85 atc250r engine. My question is- Is the air intake from the reed cage to the airbox the same on both the 85atc250r & the trx? I bought a mint 85atc250r from a buddy and in the process of putting the engine in my 300ex. Just trying to figure out the intake so it does't look all ghetto. Will a trx model air intake work better with my 300ex?

I would advise against posting on 3ww, people will be less than helpfull, if you post that you took the motor out of a good trike. But the air intake on a atc is different from the carb back, so are the airboxes. On the atc its a long tube, that makes a sharp bend to about a 4" hole in the left of the airbox. On the trx, its a shorter tube, that becomes larger to about the same size as the atc, and connects to the front on the airbox. I would get a trx250r airbox and tube, it should work for you.

What are you doing with the rest of the atc????? Alot of people will be very interested in it. I personally love trikes and really hate to see a good trike left out rust out, even worse are the 3-4 conversons.

It's funny because when I posted the link to 3ww I was thinking, damn--what a waste to canabalize an ATC250R for an EX hybrid project. I was going to say something but then thought, nah--to each his own, I'll just keep my opinion to myself. As much as I hate to see a "mint" ATC250R get torn apart, maybe its parts will breath new life into some other ATC? I hope so....

Lets hope it does breath life to atc250r's needing parts, I have heard/seen too many atc250r's, taken the motor out, carb and electronics and the rest taken to a scrap yard. Look at the dirtwheels article about the 350x-250x motor swap, it said" find a atc350x, take the motor, carb, electonics out" and it doesn't sayanything else about what to do with the rest of the bike. Other articles said"take out the motor, carb, electronics and haul the rest to a srcap yard".
