Reading through the various sites on the web I found that Sportsman's seem to be referred to by generation. What generation is a 2000?

Next step
Let's pick the Sportsman model. It spans the most years and is the original topic of this thread....
What are the main differences between Sportsman generations?
Side bar... Do other models follow similar changes?

The obvious difference is displacement. I'd like to hear from those who actually know (not me) what they changed from one gen to the next.

although i was wrong on some, i know a lil about sportsmans.
the most difference, is rack style, and frame style. some gens have square, tube frames, some have round. some have mixture, and the wingarms, and drivetrains, or irs is setup different
Puzzled, my second post and questions weren't neccessarily directed to you I'm just trying to form a basis of data like troyleepred719 is alluding to to build on for future posts
Would like to see this kind thing in the other sections too

is that an inference that im making things up, or am i just used to being defensive on this site lol..... im no master mechanic, but i have ordered numerous part for my 4 sportsmans/scramblers and predator, and i know on the range of sportsman, there is a difference almost every year.
Year to year production of almost anything usually results in model changes. Based on the given information the GEN moniker is given via a motor displacement change. I to would like to know the "other" changes from year to year. Did one year have better brakes than another? As mentioned above, frame changes? To put such a data base together would take a lot of input and pages of posts to get it all together. However it would be interesting. This site seems to be a tad more on the Hinda side so this may not be the best place to start. There may be a Sportsman site out there with a big chunk of this information already sorted out.
troyleepred719 I didn't read anything negative toward you in JOEX's post. He was pointing out you mentioned the frame changes and that would be something to build "the differences" between these bikes on.
