so my buddy crasher 3 weeks ago,and bent his gibson steering stem, and his collar bone... so i pulled out the steering stem.my other buddy works at midas.i had him throw it in the pipe bender and it came out perfect.my question is should he use it or buy a new one.the only thing is that the p/c is chipped off that it.will it hold up to mx?some opinions would be nice.

It would really depend on how bad it was bent. Chromoly is bent when making a arms, however the stem see's direct force and an snap once weakend.

    stem

well, the clamp was bent back into the gas cap.it was bent in 2 places.back and then forward.but only the p/c is chipped off.it doesn't look like any damage to the tube itself

Im sure plenty of folks have used a straightened stem with no problems.

IMO, is ebay it or sell it (letting folks know it has been tweaked) and buy a new one. My life is worth more then a $200 stem
