You lift the quad on it's side, open the plug on the flywheel side and pour it in. takes just under a court.
we put oil in it had it running for a little then it like shut off.. is there any trick to gettin it started.. it has so much compression..
Yes, there is definately a trick to starting a YZ 426. I don't know what it is, I've never had one. But I have always heard the strories about how hard they are to start. I almost traded my LSR/CRF for a Walsh/YZ but I never heard back from the guy. That was why he was considering the trade, he said he didn't like the YZ because it was so hard to start.
Walsh YZ

it's actually really easy....
when it's cold, get the piston at TDC, where you will get the most stroke out of a kick, then blip the throttle 2 times. give it a good kick and it should start.
when it's hot don't touch the throttle, pull out the hot start and give it a kick or two, then push in the hot start after it starts.
does it have the auto decomp cam in it?
no it doesnt.. we are probally goin to put a yz450f engine we have in it we just need a kick extender
i would mount an oil tank also. from what i've heard wet sump engines are very hard on the engine, dr.d actually stopped selling the kit because it was no good for the engine.
what 450 are u putting in? 03-06?
03 were gona put it in eventaully. im goin to put the exhaust cam off of the 450 and put it in the 426 for now
just get the 450f cam...easy starts
