    hybrid gearing question

    ok what do ya guy think.. im building a ktm450 /400ex hybrid what gearing should i run? im trying to set it up of mx im running 18's on the rear. and its the 4speed trans in the ktm...

    13/48 is a guess, It's what I would try. Gear as high as you can without loosing lots of bottom. Thats why torque is so beautiful, you can pull a tall tall gear, but don't overgear.

    I've heard the 525 is geared way high (even higher than my crf), so maybe the 450 is too. Check out the thread I made on gearing in this forum to get a feel.

    ya i was thinking about trying 14/38 then go from there.. i dont think the 450 ktm's have the torque of the 525's

    I run 13/38 on my 525SX (4 speed). 14/38 will be way too high if the transmission ratios are the same.

    think there the same motor.... im gonna ask the local dealer about it ... if it is i'll try 13/38 first
