I heard exhaust leak also. The rider said he looked down and saw flames. I do understand how an exhaust leak can make the engine run hotter, but catch fire? Make your own decision.
I would speculate a fuel leak, probably from the petcock to tank gasket.
The owner said it was a new bike, only in it's third race.
He apprently rolled it over seconds before hand and gas leaked out and came in touch w\ the exhaust eventually......I cant believe how heartbreaking that must feel

There was a Kawi at the morning race in Florida that burned up even worse.
I thought something was odd, the right lower a arm was bent pretty bad when the fire first started, I am guessing crash damage. The upper a arm burned in half.
