    Question Thumb Throttle Conversion?

I recently picked up a CRF450 dirtbike and due to an injury on my wrist, I am unable to use the standard twist throttle. We have two TRX450 quads and my mother's quad has a twist throttle conversion on it. Can I transfer the leftover TRX450 thumb throttle to the CRF450 without much of a headache? I love my bike and I cannot ride it at all until this is changed...I can't stick to just riding quads. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Just take a look at the carb ends of the cables. You will be able to tell if its going to work by looking at that.

If it won't work, they do sell kits for bikes.

You might have to buy a kit. I don't think the cable end are the same.

I know there is a way to use a thumb throttle on hybrid quads(that use a dirtbike motors) I'm told a trx450r setup will fit on and you will have to sicilone one side.

You would think you'd be able to use it off the 450R considering the carb is the same.

Yes it will work on the FCR carb for the CRF 450. I have a hybrid CRF quad and I use a 400ex throttle housing with a 450R cable. Your 450R housing will work just fine with your stock 450R cable as long as you have a enough length to the cable. Otherwise you may have to use a custom throttle cable made by an aftermarket company. But if it is long enough of a cable, the bike carb has to two cable hook ups, one for return and one for pull. But in your case you just need to hook it up on the bottom one which I belive to be the pull position. You will have to adjust the throttle cable tightness just as you would with anything else. But if you have any further questions about doing that let me know.

your best bet would be to get an 06 07 trx 450R cable they use the same FCR carb as the bikes and would fit right into the stock honda thumb throttle.
