    Cool Potential Power

I own a 2001 250EX. I previously had a '99 Recon. I was looking for more power, so I started looking at the snorkel. It has a very small hole for the motor to breathe from. So, I got out the air grinder and ground out the entire end of the snorkel. So now it had a very large hole to breathe from. I put the snorkel back on and it would not even run (as in above idle), because the carb now needed rejetting. The 250EX theoretically would want more air than the recon. If one ground out just the beginning of the snorkel and rejetted the carb I have a feeling they would gain quite a bit of power from this! If anyone tries this notify me, I would be highly interested in how it runs!

Yep, that was one of first mods I done. I also ground off the gas selector to just the arrow shape so it is a straight shot to the air tube from outside.

I assume you did this on a 250EX! How much better did it run?

Nope, a 400ex but the same basic principle applies.

im gunna put tubes to the front bumper with a homeade scoop for the air to go in, but i gotta think of a way to keep water out, i was thinking just a drop like a U in the line with a hole on the bottom would work

Sure, that would probably work though I can't remember how a 300EX breathes though. That would be awsome, ram air! Good Luck!
