    Question 407

    so idk if i want to go up to a 416 but was j.w can u tell a diffrence when u instal a 407? and would it be more relibal than the 416? also i was looking at cams and there is 2 kinds hot cam and another one i forgot wat its called.....well thanks

    a 406cc isnt much bigger than stock, 397cc. 416 is better and still reliable, from what i hear. if you went with a 406, you might want to bump up the compression a little, maybe 10.5:1. you should notice a little difference with that. as for cams, that kind of depends on the riding that you do. they can get involved and therefore require more money, maintenance, etc. do a search on hotcams or stage 1...

    i would go with a 416 if i was you (87mm). thats what im doin as soon as i can get the money. Im going to get a JE piston, but they only have 10.8:1 and 12:1 for a 416, so im not sure which compression i want, or if their is much of a power difference between the two

    I have a JE 406 10.6:1 with the stock cam and it feels like there is more torque throughout the gears compared to stock. Im sure you cant go wrong with either of the smaller bores.

    even if you kept the original bore and just bumped compression, you would notice a difference. there is a difference from 10.8 to 12:1 both in power and cost of running, higher octane gas.
