yea' the j- arms are real weak. And the chain adj is always stripping out or falling off all together' on the older one's but the motor is about identical to the new ones i say offer him 1500 and take it.

Yeah I am pretty shure the J-Arms were from 87 to 90 or 91 I have an 89 and it has been great, the j-arms arnt bad but there are plenty of suspension upgrades to fix that.

Well I have been looking at a-arm prices for a wile and it seems to me that you can get a-arms anywhere from about $550 to over $1000... I personally really like the I-Shock A-Arms because they have kits that come complete with everything you could need. Specialty tools, an instructional video, The Upper and Lower A-Arms, New Stainless Steal Brake lines, Brake line Clamps, Lifetime Warranty, and Depending on the kit It could Include a very good set of Shocks made by them but obviously adding shocks will cost a bit more. Here is a link to there web site.

j-arms are not too bad. the uppers dont carry much force anyway. they had em from 87-90. the only thing about buying any quad that old is that your gonna what to go through the thing and check/replace all the bushings and bearings. while the front suspension uses nylon bushings (cheap) rear linkage, swingarm, and axle carrier bearings must be looked into. this goes for all atv/dirtbikes that are rounding the 20 year mark.
