    shade tree LT80 porting ?

Any reason I shouldn't widen the LT80 exhaust port 3mm on each side and also raise it 3mm? I don't have any porting experiance but seems I could handle that.

I'm sure the shops who work with these minis would produce better results but I just need a little extra juice.

Shouldn't the exhaust port modification along with the clutch mods and removing the head gasket wake it up a little?

thanks in advance for any comments.

Yea, you can remove the head gasket. Can't on a modded motor tho.
As for the porting, the thread name says it all. The exhaust porting is just a piece of the pie that makes a good port job. I do alot of transfer work. More time there than in the exhaust.
I ruined many a cylinder trying

Under what circumstances can you remove the head gasket, and what is used? Why not just mill the head?

3mm seems quite a bit. I know that the LT80 is pretty mild, and can be opened up significantly, but 3mm still seems drastic.

The 3mm width would be ok. The 3mm raise is less than what I do.
