    Valve Adjustment

Now I know its in the EXTECH section, but I have a 300EX. I was wondering if anyone who had done it can tell me how to. I have no clue how to do this, but I heard it isn't that hard. What tools do I need, and would it be accomplishable for me seeing that I am alittle mechanically challenged.

    thanks

There was a question on this a few weeks ago. Search the threads and see if you can find anything. I think it is pretty much the same as the 400ex except for the size of gages.

Ok i'll tell you the best way to do this remove youre tank put youre bike in a real open spot in youre garage grab a twenty pound sledge stand on the rear grab bar and aim for the top portion of the cylinder and start swinging then simply remove the motor mounts and install a 400ex motor and she will run 100% better.

Just a quick question, until my shop manual arrives. Is the 400ex procedure close to the same for the new 250ex?

    Thanks,

    John

Yep - your going to need a different procedure for the 250ex. The 300ex procedure is the same but the valve clearance specs are different than the 400ex specs.

The 250EX valve adjustment is very similar to the 400 procedure. If you follow the instructions to the 400, you will be just fine. The steps that aren't necessary on the 250 will be obvious. Major differences are that the 250 only has two valves to check, and access is much easier than on the 400.
