I have just heard from several 250r owners that the 400ex and 250r are about the same when they're stock.

Thats what im saying all i have on mine is a pipe and a good reed cage and on the road i can outrun a stock predator i dont run off and leave them but i can pass them. i can smoke a z-400 on the road and ive heard they will beat a 400ex.

My 250r is far from stock though... ported by duncan, 38mm carb, hi-rev paul turner pipe with fatboy silencer etc...

Pump gas dome = low compression cylinder head dome.

i have a 250r with pipe and a little minor motor work and i can beat z400s and 400exs blasters banshees and a stock preaditor and i am pretty much stock. i one time raced a stock 450r and beat him by a bike, but ive also raced a worked bashee with like the same work as me and i got my butt handed to me i raced 2nd gear roll and he beat my by like 6 bikes and we also raced 3rd to and the same thing.

does any one no the stock speed of a trx250r in no mine does about 78mph cause i can beat stock shees and z400

Well I've owned 3 ATC 250r's and those will go about 76 mph. I have a stock TRX it's probaby right around 70-72 mph. I've owned 2 Tecate 3's those screamed to about 78 mph. A bone stock 250R TRX isn't as fast as it's made out to be. I'm not bashing it at all, it's the best quad ever produced in my opinion. I dragged a stock 03 400EX(wich is mine also) against my 86 R many many times. The TRX will out accelerate it very quickly but the EX will creep to The R's rear tires when both were maxed out. That is stock of couse, as any one knows with just a pipe and a re jet and the R will put 2 quad lengths on it. I clocked my nefew(150lbs I think) on my EX at 67 mph. Quick and fast are 2 different things. I rode a Tiger 500cc (rotax I think) 2 stroke 3 wheeler a few times, would blow away my buddies quadzillia back in the 80's, a scary fast trike. And Hussaberg (swedish) made a 500 2 stoke quad also, I've only seen 1 in my life, but from what I've been told it was the from a friend who rode it , said it was "so fast he felt like a retard" when he got off it, what ever that means. Many trikes and quads have been more fast than the TRX, but the R outlasted them all because it was an all around better machine, it handled better, it was light, built to last, took to mods better, it's still the bench mark for sport quads for christ sakes lol.

I have a 87 that is fresh from a complete rebuild and 0.20 over. Stock everything. I have been repeatedly smashed by an equal rider on a raptor. I just put a Paul Turner trx6 pipe on it and it is a completely different bike. No other changes and it is tons faster now.
