stage 1 is a good mid boost with top end boost and no loss in bottom power, the stage2 is the all around cam which might yeild a slight loss in bottom and more gain on top, and the stage 3 is all top with a loss in bottom power, which is why cams are usually paired with a high compression piston to make up for the loss in bottom. This is for a 400ex. For anything else the stage 2 does what I just described the stage 3 as.

It was a old Hotcam stg 2. I dont know anyone who has the new stg 2 or 3 in a 400ex so I cant tell you anything about them except what I have read. A cam and a piston is a great upgrade for less than 300 bucks. You can get either off e-bay and do it all your self except boring the cylinder.

If you have the old stg 2, then that is the new stg 3. So you can just say you have a stage 3.

a cam will wake it up a bit but without a high comp piston or a big bore high comp piston you wont notice a big gain unless you do it all at once then youll really enjoy it!
