    new tires for lt80?

Got my son a LT80 that I'm going to give him for christmas. I bought some douglas rims (stock size) to put on it but I want to put different tires on. What size front and rear and what brands should I look for?
You guys have some really cool little quads, hopefully my son will take to it and later we can modify his littel quad.
    Thanks for any advice,
    Duke

Beware of the snowhogs. I call them case breakers. Much too stiff for a LT80 IMO.Good for others, bad for a LT.
I recommend NANKANG 16x6.5x8. They are a soft sided tire and will out perform most any other tire on a LT80.They make a 18" tall tire also.(N700 style)
I run the stock fronts as they are soft sided and provide some more suspension. We've never needed anything else.
I don't like the turf tamers because a 9.5 wide tire is too wide.
    Hope that helps.

18x9.5x8 Turf Tamers are great for the LT80's.

That is WAY TOO WIDE for the rear of an LT80. Takes too much power to turn them. I guess if you are just braffing around the yard, maybe. Anyone that is semi fast at the track has 16/6.5 or 18/ 6.5 on the rear. A 9.50 is just too darn wide. That is my .02, and the same .02 is shared by many.

18/9.5-8 tamers belong on full sized machines....

    Exactly.
I know some like the "bust-a-case" snowhogs on the front. I feel they are too stiff and lessen the suspension aspect of it.
In fact I have a rider that refuses to put the bigger fronts on. He also likes to be back of the pack
I try explaining to him that 19 others in front of him have big fronts, but I don't know squat I guess. LOL

first of all, for a non-race application (the way most LT's are used)the extra width stabilizes a very tipsy LT. The factor junk size is really crap , and when put on the other sizes mentioned, you loose even more ground clearance. This maybe ok on a TRACK, but not in everyday trailriding ect. My .02!

    Nankang N700

    Lt80

Where can you get the Nankang n700 style? I looked at tires unlimited there was no 16x6.5x8 listed. What size rim? 8x6 rim or
    8x7?
