    Starting question

    I've got a buddy that has an 03 Predator. The started is a little noisey whan starting the quad. The starter has got jammed when trying to start it, so we put it in gear and rocked the quad back and forth. This seemed to un-jam it. we took the magneto/starter cover off and found serveral pieces of plastic chunks and shavings inside. We got a new gasket put it back together. now the grinding noise is worse, we had a heck of a time to get it to fire. Finally got it to start and idle. When it idles that same grinding noise is noticable and sometimes the motor will stop running at the same time you hear that grinding noise. Were taking it to a Polaris dealer tomorrow morning, just trying to get a heads-up on what might be wrong.

    The one-way bearing went out. More than likely, you have metal throughout the motor if you ran it after discovering the metal chunks.

    I would say you'll need a new bottom-end.

    look here i am trying to get something togeather about this. it is a pretty common problem!!
    mods, what mods...........just pipe and filter!
