    Honda Rancher...no neutral light,no start

I am working on a 2001 Honda Rancher and even though it is in neutral the light is not on and it wont start. All the other lights work.Is the neutral switch probably the problem? Also, where is this switch located on a Rancher foot shift model?

It definitely sounds like the neutral safety switch. Try to put it in neutral and start it with a screwdriver. Jump the poles on the starter solenoid if you can get to them with one. (To be honest, not sure where it is either, just trying to give ideas.) If it starts fine there, then it is your neutral safety switch. Probably ought to have it up on jackstands or blocks so if you manage to start it and isn't in neutral it won't run over you *Safety first* Where in WV are you from - I was born and raised in Kanawha Co - and just moved back down here from Preston Co - headed to Putnam Co when I can find a house.
