2005 FMF Extreme Dirt Track Round 4 - Elizabeth City Race Coverage
Round 4 of the FMF Extreme Dirt Track series heads to Elizabeth City, NC. Temps are in the low 80's, humid with overcast skies and a chance of rain. There are 298 riders, with 19 in the pro class. Pro practice at 5:30 with the heat races to follow. The Pro main should be run tonight at ?pm(** Pro Main has been delayed and rescheduled**).
Womens rider Mandy Brodil, currently second overall, wrecked hard today. She was taken to the hospital with a major contusion on her calf and possible torn ligaments. She will likely be out the rest of the season.
On a brighter note, Team Suzuki has Paul Turner trackside wrenching for Shane Hitt. They both feel he has a great chance tonight. He will also be there for Shane at the Paducah race.
The three Pro divisions just completed their heat races.

Keith Little jumped the start which red flagged the race and sent him to the penalty row behind the others. On the restart it was Shane Hitt getting the holeshot and leading for the first lap. But on the second lap, around one of the sharp 90 degree turns, his quad shut off. He had to be towed back to the pits, while Nathan Dallas took over the lead. Little charged up through the pack moving into second behind Dallas with Cody Anderson in third. Little and Dallas battled for the next 4 laps, until Little made his pass on the final turn before the checkered flag.

*Shane Smith did not run after wrecking in practice on a borrowed quad from Krank-It Racing and going to the hospital for x-rays.
Heat 2 was:

Darin Ogden

There were only 5 in this division due to a novice who was registered backing out.
Darin Ogden took the holeshot with Tim Farr and Anderson close behind. Ogden and Farr pulled away from the others, leaving Anderson and Riley to battle for third. Ogden held off all of Farrs charges, while Riley made a last lap pass to take third.

Heat 3 was:
Harold Goodman
Chuck Creech
Daryl Rath
Brad Covington
Eric Jennings
Scott Morris
Brad Covington took the holeshot followed by Scott Morris and Daryl Rath. Covington pulled away from the rest, leaving Morris and Rath fighting for second. Goodman battled with Creech until he could make a pass on the last lap for fourth.

In the Pro Am Production Main, Darin Ogden grabbed the holeshot and never looked back, taking the win. Brad Covington finished second. Keith Little was up near the front when he pulled off the track and headed to the pits.
In the Pro Am Unlimited Main it was Mitch Reynolds getting the holeshot. He held on to the lead for several laps until Houston Lowder passed him and held the lead to finish the race in first. Daryl Rath finished in third, while a group of four riders behind him swapped positions back and forth.
