    Many riders were coming past shaking off the armpump or the pain from smacking something hidden in the dust.

    One racer said he saw a deer and it was kicking up enough dust that he thought it was a quad at first.

    Kim Muzzerelli coming past with a broken thumb but pushed herself to complete the entire first lap before the pain was too much. She is going to require some pins to get it set back.

    Still standing in the heat. The sand was very hot also as I made the wrong choice of wearing sandals and had burning feet.
