tecates are pretty rare and hard to come by. so if you like them keep what you can get.

Yeah they only made them two years! I believe it was either 87/88 or 88/89. They were very quick supposedly faster than the 250R motor just not as reliable. That would be sweet to build one up but parts would probably be a problem
    LONG LIVE THE 250R!!!!!!

AND YES IT IS STILL NO 1!!!!!

They were fast but they didn't last. A friend of mine broke one in half. It was only about 2 months old.

if you want a tecate 4 wheeler, then buy one with the t-4 motor already in it. they're counterbalanced and set up to handle the extra weight better.

tecates are getting rare these days, so don't go pulling motors out of running machines to make frankensteins. the t-3 motor anyways is pretty much the same as the 86 kx250 dirtbike motor, so find one of those if you want a motor. they had better porting in the cylinder.

also, the tecates came at a higher state of tune than the 250r's, so they were slightly less reliable if you didn't maintain it. but they weren't junk, they were the first to have a removable subframe, second to have a powervalve motor.
don't buy from Paul Corbin aka TampaBoy813
