problems adjusting idle on my 300ex

i started my 300ex to set the idle tonight and it was idleling very fast so i shut it off and turn the idle screw but i still could not get it to idle down. Does anybody know what i might be wrong or what i might be doing wrong? i also tore the carb down and used my clymer manual to set every thing i moved the needle down one slot to lean it out a little but it still idles fast

make sure your cable isnt pinched, make sure sure cable adjustments arent holding the throttle in the open position, thats what li sounds like to me since its not responding to idle adjustments

You could try adjusting the throttle cable. I had the same problem a few months ago because my throttle cable was too tight. I could turn the handlebars and it would actaully run above 1/4 throttle without even touching the throttle. I think there should be 1/8 inch of free play at the end of the throttle lever.
