Here are some of the smaller quads. And yes they ran the same track as everyone else except the 50 class. They got a shortened version.
Here was the only food vendor around.... They had a great Chili-cheese dog.
Nick Bailey #911 from Moorpark Ca. topping off the tank before the race. Nick runs the stock A class. He finished 4th at the first round and took third this race. This class is the one racing for the new Yamaha 450.
#1851 Tristen Morris from Lake Havasu Az.(he had a long trip) running the 70-90cc stock class on his little Suzuki was preparing for the race. He finished 3rd.
As you looked around there was plenty of pit area. The word was the turnout was down from the first round in Phoenix. Rumor was because Havasu was such a brutal track with the heat and whooped out sandy washes...
These little guys did't care about all that. They were here to race...#92y David Rindt from Las Vegas Nv. took second in the 90cc open class. Just behind him #389y Dillon Ayers runing the 71-90cc mod class. They may have been in different classes but that did't mater, this is racing. Dillon won his class.
Here are the same two on a different part of the cousre. Look how deep the ruts are already...These little guys had a tough time.
This guy stayed very busy. After each race they would send the dozers down and fix different areas that were getting the worst.
Here is Doug Eichner, the winner of the Pro Production class. I was out on the track at the same time so I had to rely on help for the picture. Here He is about to put someone a lap down..
