    Unhappy My 400ex Is Back Firing !!!!!!!!!

    DOES anyone know why the bikes back fire, some people toll me is bcs my carb its dirty, i havent taking it apart yet all i did was take the air intake hose and spray some carb cleaner in there still back fires once in a while and my my spark plug goes bad every 5 hours of running time i dont know i guess i need alot of help !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I had the same problem with my 400. It would back fire everytime I'd start it and I'd go through spark plugs left and right. The motor was completely stock. And as soon as I cleaned out the carb, it solved the problem!

    im going to wait a couple of days so i can buy a jet kit so i can ake apart everything at the same time do you think i need a jet kit i dont really know how it works ???????????????

    You don't need a jet kit if your engine is stock. If you got an aftermarket exhaust you'll probably need to change your jets.

    check your exhaust valve it might be stuck, mine was doing that too and i found out that my valve was stuck open, or you might have an exhaust leak some were, check your headers,

    either u need to take your carb apart and clean it from the old gas gunking it up, or you are running to lean! and dont buy a jet kit they dont do anything, i ran better w/out the only good thing was the needle, but the jetting sucked!
    yfz450 sparks exhaust, high comp piston, porting, big valves, cam mod and bored out carb and other goodies...
