12 Hours of ATV America - Race Report

11 Time GNCC Utility Champion, Mike Penland, used the 12 Hours of ATV America as one of his stops on his way to California to compete in the Baja Race.

Mike Penland lives and breathes ATV racing, and it is extremely disappointing to see Kawasaki pulling his support for next year along with the rest of the Kawasaki support riders.

#88 JB Racing / American Dream Team, Jathan Seale lines his 450R up in its starting position along with the rest of the riders

A total of 99 ATVs were finally lined up in row that easily stretched over 500 feet, which was an incredible site.

The riders lined up on the oposite side of the pits and prepared to make their mark before they dashed over 100 feet to start their quads in a leMans Style Start.

With the sound of a shotgun, the riders sprinted across the disced starting area toward their machines.

They quickly hoped on their machines and either pushed the electric start or started kicking. Suprisingly, many of the Honda 450R riders had their machines started just a quickly as many of the electric start machines.

#1 East Coast ATV(Chris Borich) took off to an early lead, with #111 Outlaw Racing, #222 Thumber Racing, and #4 Team Maxxis(Bill Ballance) in hot pursuit.

#101 Mike Cycles World Honda/Duncan(Brad Page) was leading Team #32 Bartlett racing which grabbed the early A Class Lead. Pro Team, Hertz Racing (Tom Hertz) wasn't as lucky as some and took several kicks to get their 450R going.
