    Skat-trak Hauler Sizes for sand.?...

I just sold my '01 Honda 400EX (which was an awesome machine) and purchased a Black '02 Raptor Limited Edition (couldn't pass up the awesome look). Don't worry, I still think Honda's quality is unsurpassed and I will probably buy Honda's answer to the Raptor when it's on the market.

I ran 20x10x10 8 paddle haulers on my 400ex and loved them. I was just wondering which size would be better for my raptor, the 20x10x10 8 paddle or the 20x11x9 8 paddle? The stock rear tire size for the raptor and the 400ex is 20x10x9.

I was wondering if the 11 inch width, giving more surface area, would increase the speed or performance much; or if it would be better to go with the 10 inch rim.?. What would be the advantage of a 10 inch rim over a 9 inch rim?

    Your options are greatly appreciated....

    THANKS!!

You mean our opinions. I would go with the 20x11-9. The raptor has the balls to spin them and pull them. Go for it. The rim differance is not realy an issue if you are running .125 i would rather have 9'' rims cause they cause they would be more resistant to damage. the con to the 9'' rim is that there will be more sidewall flex. wich you can't realy tell very easily in the sand anyway.

i had a friend that was at Little Sahara this weekend and he said the 22inch haulers performed for him a lot better than the 20inch haulers. he has a 416. maybe taller would be better??? Thats what he thinks!!

I think the 20x11x10 would be good, but it may hook too good for the raptors high gearing...but if it does, buy a smaller front sprocket and an air filter and try it again..

Oh, I forgot, what about the Taller Hauler tires? Anyone had any experience using the Taller (1 1/16") Hauler Tires? Is it worth the money, or worth doing?

I dont think they make those anymore, they replaced them in the RMATV catalog with a tire called "Extreme Grip". Same blade height as the hauler, but the blade is reinforced.

I ran 8 paddle taller haulers once, and they were pretty good. You just have to have a ton of power to spin them, I almost couldnt get enough wheelspin to be much fun with them, but I did.

    Thanks Alky,

just before I saw your post, I was talking to RMATV/MC (I live 4 miles from the store here in Utah). They said they are selling a bunch of the new "Extreme Grip" Skat-Trak paddle tires. The extreme grip only comes in a 20x10x10 or a 21x12x8. From your comment, it sounds like the 21x12x8 would not be a very good choice.

If I choose the extreme grip route, I will most likely go with the 20x10x10 size. If I go with the regular hauler, I may go with the 20x11x9 size.

Oh, btw, the operator at RMATV told me they cannot advertise that the extreme grip is a taller paddle than the hauler, but she said it is actually slightly taller than the regular hauler paddles.

    Ride on sand mountain.......................THANKS!!
