oil checking question

I just got a z400.Can someone please tell me if I have to screw the dipstick in ,then pull it out to check the level?Or do I just insert it n pull it out to check it?Thanx in advance.

i always give it a couple of turn. but really ya dont have to.

just make sure yer oil is in the checkered area and you'll be fine.

after an oil change i usually ride it up and down the street getting to 3rd gear then checking it again. fill if necessary.

I believe the manual says to just set it in there and not to thread it in. That's what I remember reading and what I do.
