I heard that the drz-400 has 46 hp. That is the dirtbike. WEll the z400 motor is based on the dirt bike motor, so i kinda figured it might have about 40 hp. I think that honda needs to get a better quad than the 400ex to compete with all these new quads. Like maybe the crf450, or w/e it is, and put that in a quad.
    no more wheeler.. :-/

all i have is a J-Bird (sun bird where the s,u, and half the n fell off... looks like a J-Bird now lol) and a 83 camaro z-28...

Some one on the site explained the z400 motor. Its not the 40+hp motor, its a lower hp version of the motor.

The new z400 won't pump out the same amount of HP as the dirtbike,,but in stock condition I think it's gonna most definitly beat a 400ex,,I piped 400ex might stay with it, but I don't think that's gonna do it either,,,,,we shall see..:blah

I talked with a tech at the Indianapolis show in Feb who worked the booth of Suzuki. He said Suzuki built the Z400 with the intention of competing with the Raptor, Cannibal, DS Bomb and Speed in the sheer power and speed department but was also built to compete with the 250R and 400EX in the handling areas. He did say that the early reports of the 12.2:1 compression ratio are incorrect, as it will be 11:1.

It was funny, he actually compared a lot of the technology to the Kawasaki Mojave spec; dual overhead cam, liquid cooling, 11:1 compression ratio, high rev limiter, 4 valve head.

He also said that although the Z400 wont beat the heck out of any of the top performance quad, the 400EX will not compete with the power and speed of the Z400. He was even a bit cocky in saying that no quad will have the combination of power, speed and handling.

He said that Suzuki knew that the Z400 had to compete with Hondas new sport quad... He wouldnt elaborate.

That EastCoast ATV quad is sweet. Will the 450 see the light of day in a quad from Honda? Or will we get the old tech motor instead?
