I was watching TV last night and saw a commercial for a new Bombardier utility quad. I think the quad is made in a French part of Canada because they pronounced it bomb-BARD-ee-ay.
It sounded weird. Has anyone else heard it pronounced that way?

Down here in KY we call it a "bomb-ba-deer" but we can call it that cuz we ****ry...
we call it bomb-ba-deer around here too. SO really it should sound like bombaday???
It should sound like "bomb-BARD-ee-ay. I will never say it that way though. It's just like the hockey goalie Patrick Roy. I know the announcers on tv say Roy as "waa", but in the USA it should be just plain "roy".

ok I just had a hard time understanding the ee-ay part but after saying it over and over I think i get how it should sound.
yup they are made in Valcourt Quebec.. which is all french.
we call 'em "bomb-a-deer" here too but the right way to pronounce is "bomb are dee ay"
I think we are just too lazy to pronounce that extra syllable

I always pronounced it Bombardier
Actually, I've always called it bomb-BAR-dee-ay since that's the way the French say it. The Japanese call it HON-da, they wouldn't expect the British to call it a ON-der. Have you ever listened to some of those British World Superbike announcers?? "Max Biaggi on his ON-der takes the lead..."
