birds
Actually the oceano dunes are a very small part of the Snowy Plovers natural habitat (Tip of Baja to the Oregon Coast). The ironic thing is the birds nesting areas are fenced in during breeding season which makes it easier for the influx of natural predators to eat the hatchlings. Off-road enthusiasts are just a scape goat in this unfortunate dilemma. What everybody needs to understand is, if you go to the dunes do your part to clean up after yourselves. Last weekend some buddies and I rode out past comp hill and there was like an acre of broken glass and trash. CLEAN UP YOUR TRASH so that cannot be used as an argument to shut the place down. Also please take the time to get used to riding out there and always ride safe.
Sorry for the length but many visitors are not from the area and locals welcome the extra people, just realize that we have to live hear so do your part to keep it open for future generations to enjoy.
