2stroke or 4stroke modified mini...?

My nephew is in his 1st yr. of mini quad racing and will be able to move up to the modified class next season.So my question is,should he stick to his trx90 and do the mods for it or go with a 2 stroke mini quad??? Please post reason for your response also. thanks
