    Race fuel hard starting?

A riding buddy has a Z400 with 13.5:1 piston and hotcam intake. He's got the higher amp cranking battery, yet it still takes 4-5 rotations turns to fire up. He's running straight 110 race gas. This is in hot or cold weather. Whether the engine is warm or not. Any ideas?

My guess would be timing. When you go with higher comp.
piston, it is probably a dome since your comp ratio is that high,
you really need to advance your timinga few degree's. This will
allow it to fire earlier and compensate for the increased
cylinder volume. Go with a Dyna Ignition and it should correct
it cause you can time it with it.
