from what I've read Hotcam, among others don't have the Auto-decompression on there cams.
What is the benefit to eliminating this? Also is there a dis advantage of not having it?

Advantage to not having, one less part to fail. Disadvantage to not having is the starter will work a little harder. I think most, including myself, will tell you that the "disadvantage" is undetectable.
Yeah I didn't really notice a difference in the way it started with the stock cam with the decomp, compared to the hotcams without it. It starts just as fast.Quote:

I bought my Hot Cam stage 1 at my Honda shop and asked them about it and they said it would be absolutely fine running it without the decomp mechanism.
thanks for input.. how bad is the constent ticking noise you get from running a hotcam
i took it off my stock cam, and it starts the same, plus less ticking
Mine didn't really tick anymore then stock but I do keep a close eye on the valve adjustment.
I removed the spring and plunger on mine and have not noticed a difference. Starts right up everytime. Jim
